Police raid family home to find their Christmas tree is a giant CANNABIS PLANT

A drug-dealing mum was dreaming of a green Christmas before police raided her home in the city of San Bernardo, in the southern Chilean province of Maipo.

Mirror  reports mum-of-two Angelica Navarro Pereira, 50, was arrested when they discovered she had decided to use a marijuana plant as a Christmas tree. Surrounding the plant were wrapped-up presents.

Police also found two home-made shotguns, £2,500 in cash, 21 five-foot cannabis plants, and 29 bags of hash.

A police spokesman said: “The place was full of drugs. We had been investigating this woman for over a month. We suspected she was involved in trafficking and when we had enough proof we carried out our raid. We expected to find some drugs, but the last thing we expected to see was one of the plants being used as a Christmas tree.”

As the woman was dragged out of the house, stunned neighbour, Renato Quinonez Alfaro, 55, told local TV: “I have known her for years but had no idea she was into this sort of thing. When I spoke to her yesterday she said her children were going to really enjoy Christmas this year and that she had the best tree in the world. She didn’t invite me to see it though, and thinking about it I don’t remember seeing her taking one in. Now I know why.”

Pereira was sentenced to 70 days in jail.
