Toddler Survives Being Trapped 14 Hours After Car Plunged Into River

A toddler survived being trapped in a car for 14 hours after it plunged into a river. The 18-month-old toddler, Lily Groesbech was found alive inside the car following the crash that killed her 25-year-old mum, Lynn.

The little girl is in a critical condition following the tragedy at the Spanish Fork River, about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City in Utah.

Police said Ms Groesbeck was found dead in the driver’s seat after her car careered off the road.

A fisherman discovered the upturned vehicle 14 hours later calling emergency services to the scene.

When fire crews turned the car over on to its side they found the 25-year-old mum dead but her daughter was still alive.

The baby was in her car seat in the backseat on the passenger side,” Lieutenant Cory Slaymaker, Spanish Fork Police Departments said.

“The vehicle was on its top, so the car seat could have been out of the water. The car was on the embankment, so I don’t know how much water was getting into the car.”
