A 20-year old student representing the Scottish Nationalist Party, Mhairi Black, has defeated 47-year-old Douglas Alexander to become Britain’s youngest Member of Parliament in more than 300 years.
Ms Black will become the youngest MP since 13-year-old Christopher Monckton won in 1667 when she takes her seat at Westminster later this month.
Black is a final year student studying Politics at Glasgow University.
