During a Tuesday appearance on Today, new dad, Ryan Reynolds, addressed the Instagram photo his wife, Blake Lively, shared on Father’s day where he was wearing their 6-months-old daughter, James, incorrectly in a baby carrier.

“The baby is not properly secured in the vessel that I’m wearing there,” Reynolds said.

He added that new fatherhood is a steep learning curve.

“I’m a first-time dad and that is not the first mistake I’ve made and I can guarantee it won’t be the last…I had never used that particular carrier before so every other time it’s been perfect,” he said.

In a separate interview, the 38-year-old actor gushed about his 6-month-old baby daughter, saying, “We’re getting a lot of sounds, nothing that sounds like discernible English at this point. I’m mocking her a lot. She’s getting there though, [she’s] starting to form a few words.”

On the joys of fatherhood, he said, “I love it, man!…Best job I ever had.”

He added, “Baby looks like me, and I’m not saying that like any sense of gloating…”
