Dad Accused Of Robbery Says He Did It For Daughter

A dad accused of robbing a credit union has told police he needed the money to pay for his daughters chemotherapy treatments, ABC News reports.

23-year-old Brian Randolph is accused of robbing the Vibe Credit Union in South Lyon, Michigan on August 12. Randolph entered the building and passed a note demanding money, police said. While the note indicated he had a shotgun hidden in his clothes, he never revealed the firearm and the police revealed that he said he did not actually bring a gun with him.

He has been charged with armed robbery and bank robbery and had his bond set at $500,000, police said. After his arrest, Randolph told police his motive for the robbery was to help pay for his daughter’s cancer treatments, authorities said.

Randolph told police that his insurance company was no longer paying for his daughter’s chemotherapy treatments and that he robbed the credit union in a last-ditch attempt to find a way to pay for her treatments, according to South Lyon Public Information Officer Lieutenant Christopher Sovik.

Randolph’s family, including the mother of his 1-year-old daughter, told local ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV that they think he was desperately trying to get money before his daughter’s upcoming chemotherapy treatment. Asia Dupree, Randolph’s girlfriend and mother of their 1-year-old daughter, told WXYZ-TV that their daughter Brialynn has retinoblastoma, a cancer that forms in the eye. “I guess it was desperation. Time was ticking right before her appointment came up,” Dupree told WXYZ-TV.

Does this reason in any way justify his action? Does this make him a good or bad dad?

  • It doesn’t make him a good dad. What happened to asking people for help? Creating a go fund me page on Facebook to raise funds as a last resort. Now that he has landed himself in trouble what next? The way some people reason sef baffles me.

  • His reason are acceptable but not justifiable. I agree any dad is ready to do anything to save the life of a daughter but going to rob is out of it. Now he is going to jail how will he get money for other treatment. Its a pity things ended this way but at the. Same time he is a good dad.

  • The robbery isn’t Justifiable though the motive (chemotherapy) is acceptable. There are other descent means of raising such money. I like the woman who was selling hugs to raise money for her daughter’s treatment in similar challenge. To the public he is a bad dad but to his daughter he’s a super hero dad. Steal no more Mr.

  • It’s a pity and makes him bad even though he’s jot. He wound have started a fund me fundraising so the public can help. It still baffles me why a country like US does not have free health

  • There’s no justification for Error he culd ve asked, beg, borrow etc bt he choosed to steal he has to face d consequence may God provide for d little girl Amen

  • stealing is stealing, it doesn’t make him a good dad. He should have ask ppke for help

  • Though his action is not justifable but i believe justice can be tampered with mercy

  • What he did was bad but they should pardon him please.I think he has learnt his lessons
