Survey Reveals a Massive 60% Of Nigerian Children Suffer From Domestic Violence Yearly

A survey conducted by the Federal Ministry of Women affairs, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) supported by the National Population Commission and United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention has revealed that millions of Nigerian children suffer from domestic violence annually.

According to the Guardian, the survey revealed that sixty percent of Nigerian children have experienced various forms of violence. Twenty percent of boys and one in six girls suffered emotional violence by a parent, caregiver or adult relative while one in four girls and one in ten boys suffered sexual violence.

The effect of such violence has led to physical, emotional, sexual and psychological damage among the children.
