See What Boss Allegedly Did to 13-Year-Old Housemaid in Lagos

Esther Bello, a trader who resides in the Obanikoro area of Lagos, has been nabbed for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on her 13-year-old housemaid, Titi, with a broken dish.

According to Punch, a neighbour, Titus Edgar, who was drinking at a bar with others, said Titi ran out of the house with blood streaming from her hand on Thursday at about 1:30am.

“We observed that the hand was cut deep in three places, and the girl told us that her boss had threatened to kill her if she raised the alarm,” he added.

Bello later came out while Titi, said to be from Cotonou, was with the neighbours, and they asked why she inflicted the injuries. She was said to have ignored her neighbours’ inquiry, and taken her maid back to the house.

At about 7am, the concerned neighbours went to the house to check on Titi and were shocked to discover that Titi’s injuries had not been treated, and her boss had assigned even more chores.

Pissed off, the neighbours reported Titi’s plight at the Pedro Police Division. Meanwhile, Bello locked Titi up in a room in an attempt to cover her tracks.

When police officers arrived, Bello lied that Titi had travelled to the Igbogbo area in Ikorodu with a friend and was no longer with her.

Suspecting foul play, the officers returned with a search warrant, searched the house and found Titi bleeding in one of the rooms. She was rushed to the hospital and her boss was immediately arrested.

A neighbour who preferred to be anonymous said Bello had been living in the area for three years, and her previous housemaid, Maria, fled the house last year.

Some officials of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team are said to have shown interest in the case.
