See What Grandmother Allegedly Did to Newborn Grandchild for N150,000 in Abia
A grandmother in Abia State identified as Eziaku Chidi allegedly sold her 19-year-old daughter’s baby for N150, 000. Police reportedly said she had the consent of her daughter, Chinasa Chidi, the baby’s mum, to sell the poor baby. Both mother and daughter have now been arrested following a tip-off.
According to the New Telegraph, Chinasa gave birth to the baby in January 2015. Her mum then connived with a supposed midwife working with Lawato Hospital at Osisioma, Martha Ajuzieogu, one Ngozi, and a welfare officer identified as Amarachi, now at large, and sold the baby for N150, 000 to a yet to be identified buyer shortly after delivery.
Chinasa confessed that her mother gave her N10, 000 from the money as her own share, adding that she used the money to take care of some of her immediate needs and pay for her apprenticeship. Eziaku’s husband, Mr. Stanley, added that he tried stopping his wife from selling their grandchild to no avail.
Eziaku and Martha, however, said the baby died at a welfare home and the corpse has been thrown into a pit.
The police are still investigating to track down the buyer of the innocent baby.
Poverty has blocked a lot of people’s brain. About 5 to 6 people are involved in this shady deal that fetched then a 150k. What is each person getting as share???? You sold a life human being and put your freedom on the line all for a steepen???? Wow…..this beats my imagination. I pray police gets the baby on time and healthy too.
