Remember the ‘too fat to work’ couple, Steve Beer, 45, and Michelle, 43, who embarked on a six-month weight-loss programme following lots of backlash and started making efforts to get jobs? Read here, here and here.
According to reports, Steve, who has high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, eventually got his first job in 4 years but collapsed after suffering a mini stroke only few weeks later and has been hospitalized.
His wife, Michelle, said he was “not well, but improving.”
The couple shot into the spotlight when they appeared on a TV documentary, ‘Benefits: Too Fat to Work’ in January and sparked outrage when it emerged that they sorely relied on state hand-outs and help from carers, and their £3,000 wedding was funded by taxpayers.
Obesity is a huge mess.
