Man Arrested For Deceiving And Secretly Marrying 17 Wives

A 43-year-old man in Detroit, USA, Benjamin Smith, has been arrested by the police and could face up to 973 years in prison after it was discovered that he secretly married 17 women in different parts of the country.

According to World News Daily Report, in a case described by police as “one of the worst case of polygamy in the history of the country”, Benjamin who has 29 children, had for 15 years deceived all the women without anyone of them or the children suspecting him.

Benjamin ran into trouble when he got married to a young lawyer, 26-year old Jane Wilson, in June. Jane became suspicious of Benjamin few weeks after their honeymoon as she doubted most of the stories he told her, stating she felt he was hiding something from her.

Jane decided to hire a private investigator and was shocked with the results. She said:

“When the investigator that I had hired showed me the pictures of all these women and kids, I almost fainted. I knew that he had a secret, but I never would have expected something this big. This man is a psychopath and he deserves to be jailed before he hurts more women!”

Benjamin was able to marry a lot of women without the authorities finding out because he used a lot of false identities, including driver’s licenses, credit cards, social security numbers and birth certificates linked to a total of 27 different identities.

Benjamin who has been without a job since 2003,was able to pull off the lies by telling his various wives that he was either a corporate executive, a trucker, or even an agent of the secret service, to justify his absence from home while all he was doing was visiting his various families and living off his wives money.

Benjamin Smith now faces up to 233 criminal charges, including polygamy, fraud, forgery, theft and felony and if found guilty could spend 973 years in jail.
