Gunmen Abduct 4-Year-Old Boy From Parents’ Residence in Abeokuta

Unknown men, armed with guns have snatched a four-year-old boy, Stephen Kanu, from his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The abduction occurred at the Kanu family home, Laderin Estate at around 5pm on Monday, 2 November 2015.

The father of the victim, Mucipay Kanu, said that the boy was in the compound, playing with the family dog, while his mother was immersed in house chores when the gunmen stormed the house and forcibly took the boy away.
Mr. Kanu explained that the gunmen who pretended to be visitors had knocked on the gate of the house and it was the boy, Stephen, who proceeded to open the gate. The men snatched him and forced him into a waiting taxi which had no number plate. Afterwards the abductors were said to have driven through the Moshood Abiola Express Way, just a few kilometers from Laderin Estate.

Neighbours were said to have pursued the car, but had been scared off by sporadic shooting from the gunmen.

Punch reports the suspected kidnappers had not made any contact with the family, 24 hours after the incident. The father of the victim is not pointing accusing fingers at any one even as he urged anyone with useful information to contact him or the police, he reportedly said in an emotion-laden voice:
