Police Officer Who Killed Tennis Player, Beauty Mcleod, Remanded in Prison Custody

An Ebute Metta Magistrate’s Court has ordered that Joseph Aminu, the trigger happy police officer who allegedly killed Beauty Mcleod – tennis player and mother of child star tennis player, Angel Mcleod – be remanded in prison.

Punch reports that he is to remain in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Beauty Mcleod had been shot by Aminu on Sunday, October 25. Aminu was attached to the Emperor’s Guest House on Balarabe Musa Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos. Beauty and her daughter had lodged into the hotel on their arrival from Ghana where Angel had participated n a tennis tournament. She reportedly went to the hotel’s car park around 10pm to meet a friend, Betsy Garret.

However, she was challenged by the hotel’s security guard who claimed she had been too constant with her goings, so he called on Aminu to intervene. For some reason, Aminu’s intervention resulted in a dispute between the police officer and the deceased. It is reported that he slapped her and she retaliated with a stone.

Aminu is said to have shot Beauty on the leg and further prevented Ms. Garret from taking the deceased to hospital for about an hour. This made the tennis player lose a substantial amount of blood and she later died at the hospital. Aminu has been arrested and has owned up to the crime which has many willing witnesses who are ready to testify in court.

He was arraigned on one count of murder, which read,
