SELFLESS LOVE: 11-Year-Old Gives Up His Life to Save Little Sister

11-year-old La’Darious Wylie, the third of seven children, gave up his life for his little sister, Sha’Vonta, 7, as a car sped at them while they were waiting at their bus stop in Chester, S.C., at around 7:30 a.m. last Tuesday.

According to reports, seeing the vehicle headed towards them, La’Darious lunged, pushed his sister out of the way, and received the full impact of the crash. The heroic incident was witnessed by many other children waiting at the bus stop. He died the following day following injuries sustained from the accident.

Their mum, Elizabeth McCrorey, told The Herald: “He knew to look out for her.”

The driver who caused the unfortunate incident, Michelle Johnson, 57, reportedly sped off even before Sha’Vonta got up from the ground. He was charged two days later with felony hit and run and now faces up to 25 years in prison.

Their mum is now trying to move on and focused on honouring her beloved son, who was buried on Thursday. She has reportedly donated his organs so he can also save another child’s life and live on, even if not in person.

A local civic group has also started an online petition to rename Chester’s Brooklyn Park — near the site of the crash — the La’Darious Wylie Park of Brooklyn. Chester County Supervisor, Shane Stuart, said the ‘fitting’ gesture ‘would be an honorable way to remember him.’
