How Woman Made Away with Fiancé’s N295.5m in Lagos

One Victoria Alaegbu, 46, has been nabbed for allegedly making away with her fiancé, Prince Hillary Unachukwu’s $1.5 million (N295.5 million) after drugging him.

According to The Nation, Alaegbu was said to have administered a noxious chemical substance on Unachukwu last December in Ikoyi, Lagos. The substance knocked him out between 8pm and midnight, giving her enough time to steal the money and lock him inside the house.

Unachukwu reportedly woke up when the charm wore off and shouted for help.

Alaegbu was later arrested by the police and arraigned yesterday at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a five-count charge of conspiracy, attempt to kill, stealing, unlawful detention and possession of fake document.

Prosecuting Sergeant, Nicholas Akpene, who said the defendant locked Unachukwu up inside his apartment with a padlock, alleged that the defendant had a SIM card with number 07087773669, which was not registered in her name and address with intent to commit fraud.

Alaegbu denied the charges and was granted N5 million bail with two sureties in the like sum.

The case was adjourned till February 10.
