‘I’m So Embarrassed’ – Ex-wife Of EgyptAir Hijacker Spills on His Action

The estranged wife of Seif Eddin Mustafa, the lovesick man who was arrested yesterday for hijacking and diverting an EgyptAir flight to see his ex-wife (read here) has reportedly said she is ‘so embarrassed by all the publicity’ and  doesn’t want to see him.

According to a court source, Seif asked police this morning to speak to his wife but they told him she is refusing to see him. The source added that he seems scared of being sent back to Egypt.

DailyMail reports the man who used to live in Cyprus with his four children and ex-wife, Marina Parashkou, has not spoken to any them since 1994. His ex-wife reportedly had a child with another man after he left Cyprus.

A court hearing in Larnaca, Cyprus heard Marina was humiliated by Seif’s alleged actions and has stated she doesn’t wish to visit him in police custody. She also revealed that he forced the plane’s diversion to Cyprus because he escaped from the prison and his passport had been blacklisted.

During his court hearing today, Seif reportedly said nothing but only gave a peace sign to reporters as he was taken away in a police car from the courthouse.

Justifying his actions, police prosecutor, Andreas Lambrianou, said the accused told the police, ”What’s someone supposed to do when he hasn’t seen his wife and children in 24 years and the Egyptian government won’t let him?”

He was remanded in police custody after his hearing and expected to enter pleas to charges including hijacking, illegal possession of explosives, kidnapping and threats to commit violence at a later date.
