9-Year-Old Girl Rescued From Boko Haram Insists on Returning to Hubby in Sambisa Forest | Embarks on Hunger Strike

A nine-year-old girl among those recently rescued by the troops has reportedly embarked on a hunger strike, insisting she wants to return to Sambisa forest to reunite with her Boko Haram husband.

According to Vanguard, the girl whose name was not disclosed refused to eat for the past three days as a ploy to press home her demand.

Meanwhile, among the girls rescued, 12 girls were discovered to be pregnant while some others have already given birth.

Most of the rescued hostages, comprising 27 children, over 30 young girls and a few women, including two Camerounians, have been indoctrinated by the sect as many of them claimed they have been with the sect for the past three years, and were willing to go back to Sambisa to meet their husbands.

The hostages have now been handed over to the Borno State Government. While congratulating them, the state Governor, Kashim Shettima said they will undergo proper counselling and traumatic training before they are reunited with their families.
