A Mother’s Pride: Oprah Winfrey Celebrates Daughters’ College Graduations

This past Sunday was a pleasant day for media entrepreneur, Oprah Winfrey.  Some of her ‘daughters,’ who are alumni of her The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, graduated from colleges all around America, and the proud mama was there to witness the ceremonies.

According to Dailymail, Oprah’s commitment to the education of young girls in Africa paid off in a big way over the weekend with the first group of her ‘daughter-girls’ graduating from American colleges.

Tabitha Ramotwala got her degree from Mount Holyoke in Massachusetts on Sunday as did Noluthando Dlomo and Nompumelelo Nobiva, who both attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She has been attending the college graduations of young women she sponsored at her girls-only school in South Africa – The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. Referring to them as her daughters, Oprah has been dedicated to their education and growth. Most of them are already in higher institutions while some are graduates now.

The 62-year-old TV titan took to her Instagram page on Sunday to post a photo of herself with the girls and wrote: ”Proud Happy Day! 2 graduations done. Tabitha at Mt.Hollyoke. Mpumi and Thando at JCSU. Congratulations to my beautiful and brilliant “daughter-girls.

”Now onto Spelman!”

Giving a speech at the commencement of the ceremony, she closed by saying to the graduands: ‘You make me proud, and your future’s so bright, JCSU, it burns my eyes. Go with God.’
