Meet The ‘Heaviest Baby In The World’ who Has the Same Weight as a 6 Month Old

A mother in India has given birth to a 15-pound baby girl, believed to be the heaviest female baby in the world. She was born with the same weight as an average 6-month-old baby.

Due to her big size, the baby, whose name has not been revealed, was delivered by caesarean section on Monday. Her mom’s name Nandini, and she is 19-years-old.  She was shocked by the size of her first child when she was born, Dailymail reports.

Doctors believe her weight overtakes the alleged current record holder, Carisa Rusack, who was born weighing 14lb 5oz in Massachusetts in 2014.

Venkatesh Raju, the local health officer who helped deliver the child, said: ‘In my 25 years of experience, I had never seen such a big baby.

”She is a miracle. I believe she is not only the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world.”

The new mum, who herself weighs 14.5 stone (94kg) and is 5’9 tall, had a smooth pregnancy throughout but was unaware she was about to give birth to a big baby. While her size hinted at high sugar levels, doctors revealed that she is not diabetic which usually causes obesity in new-born infants.

Both the doctors and family members were also astonished by the size of the newborn because the pregnancy had gone smoothly.

Medics are monitoring the child in an intensive care unit to check her developments, before letting her go in a few days.

However, the gynaecologist who delivered the baby,  Poornima Manu, said: “She came as a big surprise for all of us. The surgery took place for nearly half an hour and it was free of any risk. She is really big and beautiful.

”She does not have any health issues like irregular sugar levels or thyroid and is breathing well. We were initially concerned about her sugar levels but that is normal.
