Mum Forced to Put 10 Year Old Morbidly Obese Son On Extreme Diet To Save Him

In West Java, Indonesia, a 10-year-old morbidly obese boy has been forced to go on an extreme diet after being told he could die soon due to his obesity problem.

Mirror gathers that Arya Permana, who weighs 30st 3lbs, is one of the world’s fattest children and he cannot physically walk alone or go to school.

Arya was born at home via natural birth and weighed a normal 0.50st (3.2kg).

When he clocked two, his mum Rokayah, 35, and dad Ade Somantri, 45, a farmer noticed his abnormal weight gain as he was much larger than his older brothers were at his age.

Since then, he has been eating five meals a day consisting of rice, fish, beef, vegetable soup and Tempeh – a traditional soy patty – which alone is normally enough to feed two adults.

Due to his abnormal weight and size, his parents have been unable to find clothes that fit him, leading to Arya wearing just a sarong (a garment consisting of a long piece of cloth worn wrapped round the body and tucked at the waist or under the armpits).

His mum said: “My son is growing at a rapid rate and I am worried for his health. I do not know any other way to stop him from gaining more weight than to give him less food.

“He is perpetually hungry and has an enormous diet and can actually eat meals of two adults at one time. He is always tired and complains of shortness of breath.

“He only eats and sleeps and when he is not done with both, he jumps into the bathtub and stays there for hours.

“There is no other pain than seeing your own child suffering. My son does not go to school because he cannot walk on his own and needs my round-the-clock assistance.

“He can only take small steps before he looses balance. I wish to see my son studying and playing with other kids in the neighbourhood.”

Arya’s parents took him to several hospitals in their village but surprisingly, doctors did not find anything abnormal about his alarming weight.

Ade said: “They asked us to take him to better hospitals if we think he needs medical attention. I have spent money beyond my capacity on his treatment but I am a poor farmer and making ends meet is a big task for me

“I don’t have enough money to buy food to fulfil his large appetite. I borrow money so that he can eat. Of course, I cannot keep him starving. I am exhausted now and cannot afford expensive hospitals. But I hope to see my son perfectly normal one day,” added Ade, who makes £100 a month.

In order not to lose him, Arya’s helpless parents have now put him on a diet of brown rice to control his weight.

“No mother wants to stop feeding her children but I am unfortunate and helpless. I have started putting him on brown rice diet.

“I am not sure if it helps but this is the only thing I can do to stop him from growing bigger,” added Rokayah.

  • Wow. I pray he gets help. Plus he could be registered at a weight loss program or something for now before surgery probably.

  • Waaow, they should place him on fruit diet, that will help but they r poor. Poor boy might have cardiac arrest soonest. O ma se o

  • Why wait until it got to this stage before embarking on the diet journey?… Now he’d need gastric bypass too cos this is wayyy too much weight already. God help him.
