Award-Winning Actress, Mo’Nique Defends Open Marriage To Sidney Hicks In New Interview
Oscar-winning actress, Monique Angela Hicks, popularly known as Mo’Nique, defended her open marriage of 10 years to actor, Sidney Hicks, in a recent interview with the daytime talk show ‘The Preachers’.
In the interview, the 48-year-old mother of four admitted that it was her idea to have an open marriage, adding that she always wanted to be “open and honest with the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with.”
She stated, “What I did not want to do is be dishonest with my best friend. There may be times I may want to be with other men, and my best friend said, ‘Mama, I’ve loved you since the 10th grade, do you think you being with another man is going to have anything to do with me loving you?’”
Her husband queried, “Who am I to tell her what she can and cannot do? And if I did tell her what she could and could not do, is there a possibility that she could still do it anyway?”
The couple said that they were open in every aspect of their relationship, including communication. Sidney said, “We are in an open relationship 24/8. And that means we are always open to a conversation. We’re open to the understanding that man and woman or as a couple we should have love for one another.”
