10,000 Single Women Register For Mass Wedding In Kano

In Kano state, about 10,000 Muslim single women who wish to be married but have not found the right partner yet have registered for a mass wedding ceremony.

According to reports, the Hizba board which is the main Islamic authority in the state, over the years, has arranged mass weddings in a bid to reduce to the minimum, the number of single women in the state.

The board introduces the women to possible suitors and leaves it to them to make the final decision. Most of the women who register with the board say they have searched endlessly for a partner but couldn’t find which prompted them to enrol with the board for help.

While some say they have suitors but no money to do the wedding ceremony.

The Hizba board is yet to announce a date for the mass wedding. A total of 5,000 men and women have been married since the introduction of the programme.
