Love Made In Warri: Nigerian Couple Married for 56 Years Tell Their Story
A Nigerian couple from Warri, Delta State, Lucky and Victoria Ikoloko Ideh, have been married for 56 years and their love for each other is still going strong.
According to the video, “Love Made In Warri”, which was created by Onye Ubanatu to celebrate old couples living in the ancient city of Warri, the pair met at a disco dance and got married soon after in 1960.
“The way she was shaking her waist captivated me, I liked it a lot,” the husband said in pidgin, and his wife chipped in, “We met at the dance, and he followed me home. From that moment we became friends.”
When asked what has kept their marriage strong for 56 years, the wife replied, “Love and my children we had together, because I cannot leave my children for a stranger.”
Her husband also mentioned that implicit trust had helped keep them together for so long. He said, “If I want to go somewhere and she says I shouldn’t go, I will not go. I take her words and she takes mine.”
