Selfless: Heroic Teen Shields Twin Sister From Munich Rampage Shooter

Huseyin Dayicik, a 19-year-old Greek citizen, has been described as heroic after he selflessly threw himself in front of the Munich gunman, who went on a shooting rampage last Friday, to protect his twin sister from a spray of bullets.

Mirror reports that the teenager was at the Olympia Shopping Centre to buy gifts for his family when he was caught in the gunfire. But he chose to stay and push his twin sister out of the way of the gunman instead of running.

The Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, described the young man’s death as one that “binds us even more to the fight to eradicate hatred and terrorism in Europe.”

Dayicik, who was from a Muslim community in western Thrace, but was living in Germany with his family, was one of the nine victims of the Munich gunman, identified as 18-year-old Ali Sonboly.

A number of reports have revealed that other victims included 21-year-old Dijamant ZabergjaArmela Segashi and her 14-year-old friend Sabina Sulaj, 18-year-old football fanatic Gulliano Kollmann, and 15-year-old Can Leyla.

Sonboly had reportedly lured victims to their deaths after hacking a teenage girl’s Facebook account and inviting her friends to join her at a McDonald’s in the suburb of Moosach for free food.

According to reports from Daily Mail, the teenage shooter, who was described by the police as a “deranged loner”, had deliberately targeted young people in revenge for years of bullying.

His classmates also confirmed that he had very few friends and after a row at school a few months ago, he warned, “I will kill you all.”

The teenage shooter was reportedly obsessed with computer games where he lived out his violent fantasies, calling himself names such as ‘God like’ and ‘Psycho’. It was gathered that he was once banned from an online chat room as his behaviour became increasingly threatening and aggressive.

Sources say that when police raided the killer’s family home, they discovered that Sonboly, whose parents were originally from Iran, had collected piles of documents about ‘spree shootings’ before he carried out the attack.
