See Why Saudi Dad Allegedly Abducted Daughter From The UK And Held Her Hostage For Years

Amina Al-Jeffery, a 21-year-old British-Saudi citizen, has been held in a cage for four years in Saudi Arabia by her father who disapproves of her western lifestyle, The Sun reports.

According to the report, the young woman’s 62-year-old father, Mohammed Al-Jeffery, took her from her home in Wales to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, four years ago and held her against her will.

The High Court of Justice, UK, heard that Jeffrey is kept caged in her father’s home in Jeddah when her father goes out, suffers physical abuse, is not properly fed, and will be forced into marriage.

The Foreign Office’s Forced Marriage Unit told the High Court that “steps need to be taken to ensure Amina is returned to the UK where her safety can be guaranteed.”

Sources, however, say that Saudi authorities do not recognise the young woman’s British citizenship, and have given the father of nine state funding to fight the High Court’s order to return her to the Britain.

Henry Setright, the lawyer representing the young woman, who was born in Swansea, UK, said her father believed she was “someone he has a duty to control, including her freedom of movement.” He added that the father had taken his daughter to Saudi Arabia because he disapproved of her “relationships and conduct.”
