GRAPHIC: Mother Abandons Day Old Baby In Critical Condition In Abuja

The people of Kubwa, Abuja have been left in shock after discovering a day old baby who was abandoned by its mother near a transformer opposite the Phase 3 Junction.

The baby who was reportedly found in a very critical condition has been taken to the Kubwa General Hospital by policemen.

Daily Trust learnt that on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at about 5p.m, the baby girl was found wrapped in a cloth had discharges from her umbilical cord and private part. She has since been on oxygen support at the hospital.

Doctors who have been battling to save the baby’s life fear she must have been exposed for long before she was spotted.

Speaking with residents of the area where the baby was found, they stated they could not tell who could have dumped the baby there but they were alerted by her cries.

“Obviously, not knowing what to do, the people who found her took the baby to the police station in Kubwa,” a resident said.

CSP Nurudeen Sabo, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Kubwa Division confirmed the ugly incident, saying that the baby was still in the hospital.

“The baby is on oxygen; they (doctors) said mucus is coming out from the umbilical cord and private part. She is still receiving treatment.”

He further claimed that the baby was responding to treatment and would be taken to an orphanage after her full recovery, promising that the police were making effort to find the mother.
