Boy Bullied At School Commits Suicide After Writing A Sad Note

After being taunted and bullied by his friends, a 13-year-old Staten Island school boy, Daniel Fitzpatrick, penned a heartbreaking note and hung himself.

His dead body was found late Thursday by his older sister in the attic of his family home, with a belt wrapped around his neck.

According to NYdaily, the letter, shared by a family friend on Facebook, revealed how his treatment at Holy Angels Catholic Academy left him feeling utterly helpless.

Daniel wrote in his letter that he felt tormented by a group of five boys who he said bullied him relentlessly.

‘They did it constantly,” he wrote. “I ended up fighting (one boy) and got a fractured pinkie.

‘At first it was good. Lots of friends, good grades and a great life, but I moved and went back and it was different,’ Daniel wrote.

‘My old friends changed, they didn’t talk to me, they didn’t even like me.’

The deceased also wrote in the letter about a fight he had with a student and former friend, which led to the other pupil being punished. His former friend blamed him for getting in trouble, something that only worsened the bullying.

‘I gave up, the teachers either didn’t do anything! Not get them in trouble even though they did trouble, I got in trouble instead because [the student] was mad at me because he believed I failed him.

‘I told all the teachers nothing except one… she was the nicest teacher ever, she understood and did something but it didn’t last long.

‘I wanted to get out, I begged and I pleaded. Eventually I did, I failed but I didn’t care. I was out that’s all I wanted.’

Daniel wrote his letter on June 30, as he desperately wanted to make sure he would be able to start new at another school, Brooklyn’s Xaverian High School, in the fall.

According to Daniel’s devastated parents, he wrote the letter in early July so someone would be “held accountable.”

“My son shouldn’t have to die to be heard,” Daniel’s distraught mom Maureen Fitzpatrick said.

“There’s something wrong with the adults in authority positions when kids can’t go to them for help.

“No parent is supposed to bury their child,” she said.

“Mom I want them to know what they did to me and how I feel,” Maureen recalled her son telling her. “I want them to hear my story.”

He was described by his family as a sensitive softie who covered his eyes and ears during the R-rated movie “Deadpool,”.

His dad, a 45-year-old Con Ed employee, said the principal told him she didn’t think Holy Angels would be a “good environment” for Daniel to be a grade behind, that it might “damage his psyche.”

He considered the principal’s statement a slap in the face since the family believes Daniel’s bullying at the hands of classmates caused his academic slide.

“His grades went from passing to the low 40s and 60s,” the dad told The News. “His confidence was completely shattered.”
