Ogun State Government Shuts Down Three Hospitals Following Death Of Two Pregnant Women

Three hospitals, namely Shepherd clinic and maternity, Ayo Ni Medical Centre and Dayo Maternity Home, all in Ifo Local Government Area, have been shut by the Ogun State government following the death of two pregnant women, Premium Times reports.

According to information gathered, the government accused the hospitals of lacking the competence to treat patients.

Speaking on the matter on Thursday, the Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye, said the two pregnant women bled to death because they were attended to by unqualified doctors at the clinics.

He further stated that one of the deceased had initially been on admission at Dayo Maternity Home, before she was referred to Ayo Ni Medical Centre, where she died during childbirth.
