Ooni Of Ife’s Queen, Wuraola Ogunwusi, Set To Fight Against Female Genital Mutilation

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi‘s queen, Wuraola-Zynab Ogunwusi, in conjunction with the United Nations is set to put an end to the harmful practice of Female genital mutilation, FGM in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

According to her Instagram post:

”Today, we discuss FGM, Female Genital Mutilation. Through my work with @UnitedNations@UNWomen, we can end this terrible practice in Nigeria and Africa.

“I was 6-years-old when I was cut. For me, the most traumatic experience was seeing what my older sister went through. She wasn’t as lucky as me.

”She suffered terrible injuries and almost died. The scars will remain with us for life.” Assétou Touré, now 49, works to educate others and fight the practice of FGM.
