Dads’ Profile: Ekeng Ekpo On What Makes A Great Dad & More

Ekeng Ekpo has been married to Augusta for 18 years, and they’re blessed with two children; Asher and Gilada. He shares on what makes a great dad and more.

What makes a great dad?

“A great dad is attentive. I think having a listening ear is very important so your children can always share their concerns and joys with you.”

How has your background influenced your family values

“Growing up, we experienced our parents arguing, so, I decided that when I have my own children, I would not allow them to have such experiences. Then, it’s made me keener on letting them travel the world while they are still young to expose them to other cultures and values.”

Core values as a dad

“I teach them to be polite and grateful for any act of kindness towards them, that’s very important to me. Also, no class distinction. My kids have learned to treat everyone they meet with respect, irrespective of their backgrounds. Above all, I emphasize hard work, honesty and integrity. I always tell them these foster success.”

Top daddy moments

“Their first birthdays and every time I see them apply the values we have instilled in them or get good reports about them.”

Bonding activities

“We travel abroad a lot. Swimming is another favourite.”
