Why Chinese Widower Ordered For Sex Doll That Looks Like His Late Wife

70-year-old, Zhang Wenliang was left heartbroken when his wife of 40 years died after losing a battle to cancer in 2015.

Chinese media reports through the daily mail that when Mr Zhang, who is a retired doctor, received the silicone doll, the enthusiastic and eager widower put his late wife’s clothes on the doll and confessed that it felt like it was a younger version of his wife registering  satisfaction with the looks of the doll, especially the facial features’.

This is the second sex doll that the man purchased as the first one which broke was purchased much earlier in August 2015 when his wife just recently died. He spent 16,000 Yuan (£1,901) which is seven times the average monthly pension in China to purchase a sex doll to fill the void left by his late partner. The doll was reportedly capable of sounds and it could be temperature controlled.

His decision to purchase a sex toy sparked an outcry of shock in the country as people were shocked by his behavior. He was evaluated by a psychologist, Zhang Xiaoqiong, who pronounced him to be normal so he chose to use the object to fill the void.

“He had spent 40 years living with his wife. He was used to couple life. When his wife suddenly passed away, his life lost balance, so he chose to use the object to fill the void. If he did not have a replacement like this, it would not be good for him in terms of the release of negative emotion.” she told Reporters.

Exdoll, another sex doll manufacturer, offered to customize a figure for Mr Zhang for free after reading his story on the Chinese media. Speaking to Daily Mail, Mr Yang, who is the business director of Exdoll said that they were all moved by his undying love for his wife that they decided to give him the  5ft 3in doll as a gift which resembles Mr Zhangs wife when she was in her 40’s.

Mr Yang, from Exdoll, explained that the Chinese market is yet to fully accept the concepts of sex dolls and that a high percentage of his dolls were being shipped out to European countries. He hoped that Mr Zhang’s story could prompt the country to view sex dolls with a more accepting attitude.
