See How This Brave Little Cancer Patient Made Her Doctor Emotional

Little Elle Grace Morris was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, (Cystic fibrosis is a life-shortening genetic condition that causes lungs to become clogged with mucus, making it hard to breathe). Doctors told her that she needs a double lung transplant and this might be her last Christmas.

Mirror however reports that the 10-year-old girl, has fought hard to stay alive. Ellie writes her doctor a thank you note, in a hand made Christmas card by herself, saying that she doesn’t know if she would be here today without his help. Dr Jayaram, who has been treating the little girl since she was diagnosed broke down into tears after reading the card and admits that he is a “big softie”.

“I’ve watched Elle and her family deal with the burden of cystic fibrosis since she was diagnosed with the condition at 15 months-old. Elle has already had to devote too much of her short life to the daily medications and treatment that keep her alive. Every day she must take dozens of tablets, do two hours of physiotherapy and carry an oxygen cylinder around with her wherever she goes. Since her health has deteriorated she also has to spend two weeks in hospital every two months and is in desperate need of new lungs. Despite all this, Elle remains one of the toughest, bravest and most positive little girls I know and I’m proud to appear in this film with her and help raise awareness of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s work to beat this disease.” Dr Ravi said.

When Elle found out that she needed to go on the transplant list, she drew up a list of 10 things she wanted to do before she reached the age of 10. One of which was to raise an awareness for organ donation for children, which she has already done. She was recently reviewed at Great Ormond Street Hospital , where it is hoped her lung transplant will take place. She also wished to meet the iconic pop star, Rita Ora and her wish was granted.

The staff at the hospital were shocked at how agile she was, her mother shared. They said that she wasn’t even supposed to be going to school because of the state of her lungs, being that just 30% of them were functioning as they should. Her mother is how ever grateful for Dr. Ravi, saying that his comical spirit has really helped Ellie through every procedure and has kept her going strong through it all.
