Tragic: 24 Year Old Ireland Returnee Murders His Parents in Lagos

Bakare Babalola Rotimi Jr., a 24-year-old man, has left many of his family members in tears after he brutally murdered his father, 59, by stabbing him to death before attempting to also kill his mother in Magodo area of Lagos state.

According to Sahara Reporters, Rotimi, who was living in Dublin, Ireland, before he came back to Nigeria was described by many as a stubborn boy.

He recently returned to Nigeria after he refused to go to school in Ireland, where he had been living since he was 7. His parents allegedly brought him back and they have been having issues because he has refused go to school. He was the third of Bakare Babalola Rotimi’s three boys.

“This boy doesn’t even have an education. He has been living in Dublin as a kid and he refused to go school, instead he got addicted to drugs,” a source said.

According to a family member, Rotimi murdered his father in the early hours of Sunday, December 4, while staying the night at his parents’ place in Magodo.
Speaking about how he murdered his dad, a source who is a family member said that when the deceased woke up that night to use the bathroom, the boy jumped on him, ordering his own father to lie on his chest. He then allegedly brought a knife from behind him and stabbed him repeatedly.
His mother who heard her husband’s scream rushed out and Rotimi stabbed her too. Sadly, the father died immediately and his body was moved from the house to the morgue, while the mother made it to the emergency bay on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway where she was stabilized before being transferred to the surgery ward at the Lagos General Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
”He thought he had killed both of them. After stabbing them, he pulled out a cloth to cover them, and he went to the bathroom to clean up. He got dressed, took his father’s phones, his ATM cards and went straight to the father’s fuel station at Palm Avenue. He got there and started harassing the station manager, demanding for money,” a source within the family explained.

Rotimi was subsequently arrested by the police, and then transferred to the Homicide Section at the Lagos State CID in Panti for further interrogation. The police revealed that the murder suspect will soon be charged to court.
A source confirmed that the only issue late Rotimi Snr. had with his son was about his education.
”Just like his other brother (who is) studying Medicine in the US, he has been begging this boy to go to school and this has always been the cause of the misunderstanding.”
The deceased has been buried in his hometown, Ila-Orangun, Osun State.
