‘Our kids’ interests come First” – Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Finally Agree to Settle Divorce in Private

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached an agreement to handle their divorce in private, the estranged celebrity couple announced in a joint statement.

The statement released on Monday said that they will keep future details of their divorce confidential by using a private judge in order to protect the interests of their six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne, CNN reports.

“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues.
The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification,” the actors said.

You will recall that Jolie and Pitt have been in the midst of a public divorce and custody battle over their children since last year. While Jolie, 41, is seeking physical custody, Brad, 52, has requested joint custody (read here).

The statement is the first joint comment from the duo on their divorce since Jolie filed to end their marriage (read here) in September.

The joint statement comes a month after Pitt was denied an emergency hearing in which he was attempting to have a judge seal all of their documents and proceedings to “protect the privacy” of their kids to avoid subjecting them to the negative impact of the intense media coverage and worldwide public scrutiny.”

Also, recently, Pitt filed additional court documents in which he said his wife was “determined to ignore even agreed upon standards relating to the children’s best interest.” Adding, Jolie had “no self-regulating mechanism” when it came to protecting their kids.
