Update: “My mom’s no felon,” 18 Year Old Girl Kidnapped from Hospital as a Day Old Baby Defends her Abductor

18-year-old Kamiyah Mobley was just eight hours old when Gloria Williams, 51, allegedly posed as a nurse and snatched her from her birth mother Shanara Mobley (read here) in Jacksonville, Florida, prosecutors said.

Kamiyah has grown up her entire life believing she is Alexis Kelli Manigo, and had no idea about her true identity until Williams was arrested in Waleterboro, South Carolina, on Friday, Mirror reports.

According to Police reports, a DNA test proved Manigo is, in fact, Kamiyah Mobley.

After being told that DNA proved the fact, Kamiyah defended her alleged kidnapper insisting: “My mom’s no felon”.

Kamiyah is understandably emotional at the shocking news. When Williams was taken into custody, the duo shared an emotional goodbye, with the teen sobbing “Momma” and pushing her fingers through a security window.

In court, Williams blew a kiss to Manigo who was in the public gallery. The teenager responded by shouting: “I love you mom!”

In a Facebook post, the heartbroken teen added:

She is still yet to meet her birth mother who finally discovered what happened after that day back in July 1998 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Williams has been charged with kidnapping and interfering with custody and was denied bail.

  • Eya. She has been living a lie all her life believing her abductor is her real mother. It would be very difficult for her to believe something else.

  • She’s already an adult and it’s going to be very hard for her to bond with her real mother.
