President Buhari’s only Surviving Sister Appeals to Nigerians to Pray for him

President Muhammadu Buhari had been on a 10-day medical vacation in the United Kingdom, UK but his stay was extended indefinitely due to health issues (read here).

While his current health status is yet to be revealed, it has generated a lot of controversy across the country, with some saying he ‘may be dead.’

Hajiya Rakiya, the only surviving older sister of the president has appealed to Nigerians to continue to pray for the well-being of the president, instead of spreading rumours about his death.

In an interview with News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) in Daura, Katsina state, the 84-year-old woman, popularly called Amadodo, said the president needed the prayers of every Nigerian for him to succeed in the task of addressing the problems facing the nation, adding that her brother, being a mortal is bound to fall ill or even die “at any time his Creator wishes’’.

According to her, she speaks with the president everyday since his departure to London on his annual leave and he is in high spirits.

”I just returned from the lesser Hajj and even while in Saudi Arabia I was communicating with him everyday. While in Saudi Arabia, I communicated with him every ten hours.

We were 28 from our mother late Hajiya Zulaihatu who died in 1992, but Buhari was her last born,” she said.

This morning, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, took to his handle to support Hajiya’s claims saying he spoke with Buhari last night and they both joked.

Some Nigerians on Twitter have, however, faulted Saraki’s tweet, saying he ‘lied’, while some wished him a quick recovery.
