Heartbreaking Reason Mother of 6 Threw Her Newborn Baby Inside Soak Away

Juliana James, a mother of six from Bauchi State has confessed to throwing her one day old infant into a soak -away shortly after delivery at home due to poverty.

The housewife who lives with her husband James and their six children, five girls and a boy in a one room apartment claimed that things were so tough for her family that she decided that the way out was to let go of her newborn.
Sun News reports that Juliana, wept bitterly as she spoke with journalist at the Police Command Headquarters in Bauchi, declaring she loved her child. She added:
“Things are hard. My husband has no job. He had an accident three months ago he is still in the hospital ago and the situation became worse for us. We don’t see food to eat.
We were dying of starvation. I delivered at home and threw the baby in the toilet because I don’t know how we are going to take care of it. I didn’t tell my husband “
She further explained that when the cry of the baby in the soak away became too unbearable she changed her mind and decided to inform the neighbours.
The baby girl was immediately rescued and taken to the Abubakar Tafawa University Teaching Hospital where she is currently receiving medical care.
A source speaking on condition of anonymity said:
“She was a hardworking mother and House wife who fried kwosai (bean-cake in the neighborhood but for some time now during her pregnancy she had not been coming out. May be the recession took it’s toll on her.”
Juliana was arrested by the police and is currently being remanded at the police station. The Commissioner of police Zaki Ahmed, paraded the suspect for child abandonment.

  • Thank God the baby did not die,I pray God restores her perfectly, no matter what woman, u did not try,if u dropped her outside an orphanage I would have understood not inside a soak away, so if she died instantly and did not cry,u would have carried on in peace?God forbid
