John Legend Reveals How His Wife’s Post Partum Depression Affected Him

John Legend, who welcomed his daughter Luna into the world 11 months ago, alongside his wife, Chrissy Teigen, has revealed in a new interview that he wasn’t ’emotionally prepared’ for his wife’s,  postpartum depression. In past interviews, Chrissy revealed that she went through a very dark time following the birth of their daughter.

You don’t see it coming. You’re not emotionally prepared for someone that’s going through a dark time as you’re welcoming this new life. When you don’t understand what’s happening, it’s a bit challenging to figure it out and you don’t know if it’s something you’ve done or some other reason why she’s not feeling well. Once you understand what the reasons are then it makes perfect sense and you can adjust accordingly,’ John said, Daily Mail reports.

When Chrissy covered Glamour magazine, she revealed how she never left her house. She had every shade closed, and would spontaneously burst into tears.

‘Most days were spent on the exact same spot on the couch and rarely would I muster up the energy to make it upstairs for bed. John would sleep on the couch with me, sometimes four nights in a row. I started keeping robes and comfy clothes in the pantry so I wouldn’t have to go upstairs when John went to work,’ she said.

John also revealed that this dark time has not stopped them from wanting to have more children, as they want at least 4 more additions to their family.

  • It’s a pity that in this part of the world people aren’t exposed to this kinda issue, our people need to be enlightened on PPD so that the victim won’t be labelled ogbanje and all sorts of evil names while the person is really suffering.
