Why 64 Year-old Grandma is Beaten Into a Coma

Barbara Dransfield, 64, was brutally beaten at knife point by thugs sometime last week, because of her son, Daniel’s marijuana debt. Barbara, who is a grandmother, and also disabled, had to be placed on a life support machine because she fell into a coma for two weeks following the horrific ordeal.

Mirror reports that she was sitting in her wheelchair at her home in Manchester, UK, when a masked gang raided her home. Barbara says she heard men saying: “It’s the police, stay where you are.” They broke the back door of her home and burst in, demanding money. She pleaded that she didn’t have any, and was hit eight or nine times with a baseball bat .The men ravaged her bedroom and made off with some fishing tackle belonging to her husband and some tins containing a small amount of money. The attack left her with a fractured skull, several facial fractures and severe bruising. When they ran off, she then called her husband, who called the authorities immediately.

In an interview with police a month later, which was played to the jury, after the case was taken to court, Stephen Mortin was identified and convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to commit robbery. A second man, Nathan Clark, was also identified and pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and conspiracy to commit robbery before the trial. They are due to be sentenced on May 19.

There has been no news however of her son, Daniel’s whereabouts.
