13 Year Old Boy Accidentally Kills Himself on Instagram Live While Friends Watch
Malachi Hemphill, 13, had just taken the trash out as instructed by his mother after dinner. He went upstairs to his room, locked the door, pulled out a gun that his family and detectives believe that he got from some bad friends at school and proceeded to make a live video on Instagram. He accidentally shot himself while he was still filming.
“I heard a big boom, I couldn’t tell if it was a gunshot or what, but i knew something was wrong” his mother Shaniqua Stephens said.
She rushed upstairs with her daughter to find her son in a pool of blood. His phone was still streaming on Instagram Live. They kicked in the door and found him laying there in a pool of his own blood. “My daughter screamed and said, ‘Mom turn his phone off!’ As I proceeded to look at his phone he was on Instagram Live.” Stephens said.
Daily Mail reports that there were about 40 to 50 kids outside the Stephens residence. They were believed to be watching the streaming when the gun went off.
Stephens who says that the memory of her son laying there in his own blood will never leave her mind urges parents to keep a vigilant eye on what their children are doing.
“Monitor their phones, just monitor your children, More now than anything,” she said.
