Dear MIMsters: My dominant daughter is like a curse to her twin sister

Dear MIMsters: My dominant daughter is like a curse to her twin sister

I have a set of identical twins. One is dominant while the other is submissive and this really breaks my heart.

I may have had no issues if the dominant one was sometimes submissive to her sister but no. She always like to have her way. As parents, my husband and I have been protecting and standing up for Lynthia, the submissive twin but how long are we going to continue doing this for? Lynthia just lets Lynda push her around all the time even when she is obviously unhappy and distressed.

Lynthia might be eating something she obviously enjoys, and Lynda would just grab it from her and eat it up, and even if Lynthia makes an effort to reach back for it, Lynda would push or yank her hands off.

Recently, at school, Lynda did something that got her into trouble and she was told to wash toilets and dishes at the school dinning hall as punishment. Guess who served the punishment on her behalf, her innocent sister, Lynthia and Lynda didn’t even lift a finger to help. I got to know because a teacher found out and made an open report.

I have talked, punished, rebuked, sanctioned and done everything possible to get her to stop being so domineering, instead she takes it out on her sister. When will this end? How do I get Lynthia to stand up for herself or is this a curse with some twins? Please help!

  • This usually happens with siblings who are not twins. I am shocked to know there’s a twin out there doing it. Twins always stand up for each other. This one is very unusual. Maybe you should take them both for counseling and see how that works.

  • I think you should separate them. This will make the submissive one strong. Let them go to different schools. It’s the best. Don’t bring them up together anymore.. This will help them to be independent.

  • Pls check the meaning of the name_ LYNDA. You may like to change her name too as you make efforts to change their school….

  • Pls put them in a separate school. If possible boarding school. That will make lynda to miss ,value, love and respect lynthia.
Also help lynthia to be strong nd independent.
    Separation will work like magic.
