Dear MIMsters: I’m Pregnant and Soon to Deliver. I’m Worried My Supportive MIL May Be Disappointed If She Finds this Out

I’m married to a loving and caring husband. I’m currently pregnant and soon to deliver. My problem is that when I was younger, I got pregnant and had a baby. I had to have an episiotomy, though the baby died at birth.

I told my husband about it while we where dating and he accepted it and said it was a thing of the past. When we started our wedding plans, I was scared because his mum is a nurse and we didn’t tell her about my past. When I found out that he was making plans for me to go abroad to deliver, I relaxed.

Now, it seems as if the travelling plans to go have my baby is not working out again and I have been registered to have my baby where my MIL who is a nurse works.

I’m really concerned about it because she loves me a lot and takes care of me. She practically carries me around in the hospital introducing me to everybody she knows and treats me like a baby. I don’t want her  to be disappointed if she finds out that I have had a baby before in the presence of her colleagues and fellow workers..

How do I prevent this from happening? Should I open up to her and how? I really don’t want the love she has for me to turn into hatred because of this issue. My husband seems to have forgotten about this because he says things like, “rest, this is your first pregnancy,” “don’t, this is your first pregnancy.”

  • Biko don’t tell her anything, but tell ur doctor so it will be on ur card,if she finds out so let it be ,tell her u told her son and he accepted you
If u r very sure u told ur husband explicitly, there is no way he will forget such thing and is just trying to make u calm except u codedly told him,if so hmmm OYO be ur own o

  • Your husband is in the best position to tell her. If he says you should forget about it, then please forget about it. If she finds out on her own, then you can explain to her. Nobody should hate anyone because they had a child before.

  • discuss your fears with your hubby…you guys should handle together
