Dear MIMsters: Me Looking Like a Child Has Become a Problem for me

How do I manage this? I am 19 year old. I will be 20 this year. The problem is that I still look like a fourteen or fifteen year old kind because of my baby face and slim physique.

Imagine, I went to church last week Sunday and I was told to stay with the children at the Children’s Church. I took me explaining myself and telling them my age before they knew.

Currently, I’m in the University but I’m still being treated like a child, even by people I am way older than. A lot of people do not believe me when I tell them my age. The only time they become convinced t that I could be more mature than I look is when I open my mouth to speak. Then, they can differentiate between the thoughts of an adult from that of a child.

This is a problem for me because it is beginning to affect my self esteem. I am always very depressed because of this.

  • Do makeup, wear more of weavon than braided hairstyles. Wear makeup that will make you look more like your age. But in the mean time, embrace it and see it as a rare gift. Be happy the way you are.

  • I used to be like this too until I became older and knew it’s a good thing. I am in my late 20s but you will think I am 23. Slim people with baby face don’t age fast. Stop being depressed about it, you don’t know what you have yet.
