‘Diary of a First Time Dad’- Noble Igwe Talks About his Wife’s Pregnancy Hormones & How he Was Able to Cope With it

Nigerian blogger and  co-founder of 360 Group, Noble Igwe and his wife, Chioma Otisi welcomed their first child, Jasmine Onyekachi Igwe, early this year and succeeded in keeping it away from the public.

As a proud first time dad, the style influencer has begun a new series detailing his experience on Style Vitae, a lifestyle platform he founded.

Titled ‘Daddy Jax- Memoirs of a First-Time Dad’, Noble, in the first series stated that although Jasmine is just four months old, “her journey from God to us started a while ago and I’m writing this diary so when she’s old enough, she understands what her mum put me through in the name of pregnancy hormones and all that jazz Chioma swept under the carpet with ‘We are two’”.

He also spoke about a regular discussion between him and Chioma after they discovered they were going to be parents, and was advised by the doctor to not pick up heavy things.

See what the hilarious discussions looked like:

Chioma: Nobs

Nobs: Yes love

Chioma: Please come

Nobs: I’m coming, I’m trying to round up this TV show

Chioma: Baby, please come

Nobs: Okay, I’m on my way

Chioma: Hurry up

That was the beginning of so many episodes of “Remember that the doctor said I shouldn’t do this and that”, however none of that bothered Noble as much as Chioma’s new diet.

Noble continues;

It was a Sunday evening and I was coming back from Mente De moda when Chioma called

Chioma: Babes, where are you?

Nobs: On my back, Do you want anything?

Chioma: I’m hungry

Nobs : Emmanuel is not around?

Chioma: He is, I want Suya and Ice Cream.

Nobs : How in the name of God are you going to eat Suya and ice cream together?

Chioma : I think that’s what the baby wants?

Nobs : The baby whatsapped you?

Chioma : No love, but I can tell

Nobs : I’d drive through Buka Hut and Cold Stone but don’t call me to sit with you in the toilet.

”The closer the delivery date, the weirder Chioma’s food choices got but I survived.

Few months into the pregnancy, we found out we were having a girl and when we decided to name her Jasmine, I knew she was going to be “Jax” to me.

Jax came on a Tuesday but I’m not going to be like “It was the best moment of my life” because for the first few hours and days, I was more interested in my wife recovering fully. Don’t get me wrong, I was happy to carry her in my arms but I didn’t know her yet and I wanted to be sure that my wife and mother of my now-born-child was recovering just fine.

I was in the theater with her and while the nurses cleaned up Chioma, they let me take Jax to the room to see my mother-in-law and Aunty. While they were all over joyed, I was busy praying for my wife and when they finally wheeled her in with tears in her eyes, she asked to carry Jax it was at that moment that I noticed that Jax didn’t have brows and finally I could put a face to her. Jax came looking pretty with incomplete hair, full lips, and tiny light skinned fingers.

The First night, Chioma was sleeping so I fed Jax for the first time and occasionally she opened her eyes to look at me. Going by the pictures from the biblical era, I was sure that Jax had seen a lot of beard gang members in heaven and so wasn’t surprised to be her daddy with full beard. When the nurses came in to change her, I kept her first top, feeding bottle, mitting, and pacifier.

It was all an awesome experience until the hiccups, that was when it happened…”
