Dear MIMsters: I Know I Should Listen to My Doctor But My Pains Won’t Let Me

In 2011, I was trying to conceive and I fell pregnant. On my second check up with gynaecologist when my pregnancy was 3 months old, my Doctor discovered that the foetus was growing outside the womb.

I went for an emergency operation to remove the foetus and one fallopian tube. It was the right tube. Now since I had the operation done, the left tube has been causing me considerable pain. I have seen lots of doctors and been to different hospitals without much help. They say I have a cysts and fibroids.

Last year, I just gave up and all I wanted to do was the hysterectomy. One doctor at the hospital said a hysterectomy is not the solution as it may cause too many problems to my body. Another doctor sent me to a specialist to burn the fibroids but he refused saying the referring doctor was not correct in his analysis.

I just want to know, has anyone done this burning of fibroids before and is it a safe process? The doctor refused to do it because I am 38 years old, so it has high risk. The thing is for 2 days every month, I endure great pains. Or should I just leave it as the specialist said? I am married to a wonderful and caring husband who will support me no matter what happens.

  • In cases like this, you try and see multiple specialist to be able to draw a conclusion. May God be with you.
