Ridiculous Reason Why Mother of Two Planned Her Own Kidnap

A 37-year-old woman, Bukola Ogun, planned her own kidnap said it all started like a child’s play.

According to TheSun, Bukola had connived with a three-man gang including her cousin to arrange the crime. Three armed hoodlums reportedly stormed the residence of the supposed victim at Elesun Street in Oluyole, Ibadan, on July 4, 2017 around 7.45 pm, and took her away.

It was reported that after they left the scene, the woman was said to have lodged herself in a hotel at Imalefalafia area of Ibadan, where she stayed and hid for three days. Barely four hours later, the kidnappers contacted her husband and demanded a N10m for her release.

But the husband, who was unaware that his wife masterminded the kidnap informed the police, who later arrested two suspects, Kayode Adepoju, Bukola’s cousin and Olalekan Anafi. The couple have been married for six years and have two children together.

The aim of the kidnap was to scare Bukola’s husband into relocating her and children to the United States.

According to the state’s Police Commissioner Abiodun Odude, while interrogating Bukola’s cousin, he revealed that she had called him and said she wanted to stage her own kidnap. According to her, she wanted to scare her husband with it so that he would see reason why it was necessary for him to take her abroad.

“We did not collect any money from the husband and we did not use any weapon in the operation. I was arrested a day after we kidnapped her,” he added.

“I just woke up one day and thought of a way to make my husband see reason why he should use his American citizen status to take me out of the country. It all started like a child’s play.

I told my supposed abductors to tell my husband that the ransom was N10m although I knew he would not be able to pay such money. He is just a salary earner. I lodged myself in a hotel and I was there for two days. I went back home on the third day and no ransom was paid,” she said.
