“Dear future daughter-in-law . . .” Aisha Yesufu Pens Moving Letter to Her Son’s Future Wife

Extending the chores and cooking in the home to the male child, could be a difficult task, as most of them believe it is the girl’s place to do house chores. However some mothers have been able to break this stereotype.

Activist and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, Aisha Yesufu, took to her twitter page to share a video for her son busy in the Kitchen. Her message of advise to her future daughter-in-law, in relation to the video, gained attention on social media.

The proud mother of advised her future daughter-in-law not to spoil her son by giving him a sense of entitlement. In her words she said:

“Dear Future daughter Inlaw, this is your Husband Insha Allah. I have trained him properly, to take care of him self to be able to cook his own meal, to do his own thing.

If you like when you meet him you decide to spoil him and refuse and be allowing him to just sit down and you be the one to be doing all the cooking. Know for sure that it is not my fault.

Because i have brought him up, to do your house chores too, to do everything like every other person. I didn’t say this is a woman, or this is a man, all of them i brought them up, you know…. So daughter-in-law over to you oo.”

So, dear future daughter-in-law, please take note, you have a great cook and husband in Aisha Yesufu’s son.
