Nigerian Woman Married to Two Men Seeks Divorce From First Husband

A Nigerian woman, Modinat Mufutau, married to two men in Ibadan has been given the leave by the Idi-Ogungun Customary Court, Agodi, Ibadan to divorce her first husband, Ajadi Mufutau.

She told the court how she alternated between the two men to take care of her sexual and financial needs.

Modinat begged the court to dissolve her marriage to Mufutau for reasons of lack of care and maltreatment.

According to NAN, she met Mufutau in 2005 and got pregnant:

“At the beginning he was nice and responsible.

When he impregnated me he began beating me whenever I asked for ante-natal money.

I left his house after delivery and hooked up with Saheed who also turned me to a punching bag after our second child together.

I went back to Mufutau and we had another child but Saheed couldn’t let me go, so I started dating the both of them with no issues, until they met at my apartment.”

She prayed the court to grant her a divorce from Mufutau because he was uncaring and had stopped giving her money for child support since the fight with his rival.

Mufutau did not contest the dissolution. He said,

“Modinat is a shameless woman.

I was not aware she still dates Saheed, I just want custody of my first child.”

He promised to take care of his second child.

The Court dissolved their marriage and granted custody of the first child to Mufutau and second Child to Modinat. Mufutau was ordered to pay N3500 monthly for the upkeep of the second child and both parties were warned to desist from formenting trouble.
