Tonto Dikeh to Take Legal Action Against Media Houses Over Leaked Domestic Abuse Video… Details

The on-going separation battle between Tonto Dikeh and her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill has taken a new turn.

A 15-second video was released online yesterday depicting the actress in the act of hitting the father of her son. Within minutes of the video release, the mother of one through her lawyers from Festus Keyamo‘s chambers issued a statement saying the video is edited and doesn’t show the part where Churchill initiated the attack.

However, her lawyers, have vowed to take legal action against any journalist/blogger that publishes the edited version as against the full version of the video that captures the whole fight.

”We act as solicitors to Miss Tonto Dikeh, a prominent Nollywood actress. It has come to our knowledge that her ex-husband, Mr. Olakunle Churchill has perfected plans to release a short and edited video depicting and portraying our client as being involved in some domestic violence against him.

Our client wants all bloggers and/or journalists to request for the full version of the video showing the said domestic scene which started with a physical abuse of our client by her ex-husband, which earned her a swollen face.

Her ex-husband only intends to release our client’s REACTION to the assault on her and not the assault itself.

We shall be prepared to take legal action against any blogger/journalist that uses the edited version without insisting on or showing the full version.”

On February 24, 2017, the Nollywood diva, 32, accused her husband of domestic violence. She alleged she suffered physical and verbal abuse in her two year marriage.

“It’s very simple having a husband who cheats on a roll and uses you for a punching bag and suffering gross verbal abuse,” she shared in an Instagram post.

She also said she got sexually transmitted diseases several times in the past from him and finally decided to walk away after it became too much (read here).

Tonto, with an acting career spanning 11 years known to both young and old is a person of interest. The media not only reported on her career but also her private life and most of what was covered was information that was made public.

The estranged pair share a son, King Andre together.
