Toke Makinwa Eulogises Dad on His Posthumous Birthday: “I will honour you forever”

Toke Makinwa, was just 8 when her parents Caleb and Modupe Makinwa, both died in a tragic fire incident after suffering serious injuries from a gas cylinder explosion at their Abuja home.

Today happens to be her dad’s birthday and the media personality took to Instagram to eulogise him.

She shared a photo of her dad, whom she referred to as her ‘first love’ and penned this moving message alongside.

”Happy birthday to my first love. I stood in the shadows, scared for my dear life, I stood in the dark too afraid to let you see me. I watched them gather around, I watched as they put the fire from your pants out.

You seemed ok, you walked right past me and all I wanted was a hug but I was too afraid, the darkness was my comfort. I knew my life had changed, uncertain what would come next. Was it all a dream?

Had I known it’ll be the last time I’ll see you or hear your voice; I would have begged you to stay, I would make good grades dad, I’ll be obedient, please stay.

I would have told you how much I love you daddy, you broke down the doors with your bare hands so we could run to safety, that’s who you were. I love you but God needed you early, heaven couldn’t wait for you Caleb.

I’ll honor you forever, even as you are no more Dad….. Life hasn’t been easy without you but God has been faithful.
