7 Foods To Help Boost Your Energy Level During Pregnancy

Is there anything else as tiring as being pregnant? Growing a baby drains an expectant mom from the inside out. There is always a temptation to want to opt for the next energy drink or have a tad more of your daily caffeine dosage, just to give you that extra energy to make it through the day. Thankfully, we have been blessed with natural foods that are guaranteed to give you the extra boost of energy you need every day to make it through your nine months of pregnancy.

  • EGGS

Tiny as it is, it is a source of high protein. Yes, during this period you would need to imbibe a lot of healthy and baby friendly protein into your diet. This helps to boost your energy level and make your baby grow healthy too. E.g fish, cheese, milk, lentils, beans e.t.c

  • WATER

Most times, exhaustion is as a result of dehydration. In pregnancy, it is optimal to your health to up your daily dosage of water to at least 4 liters. Why? this helps to flush toxins from your system, your blood and also improves blood flow through out the body and to the baby.

  • VEGETABLES

Iron packed vegetables are essential from the first day you realize you are pregnant. As pregnancy progresses, especially as blood flow demand increases, you need to ensure that you are eating the right type of foods that feed your energy. E.g ugwu, spinach, waterleaf.

  • NUTS

Luckily, we are blessed with varieties of nuts in Nigeria. Did we also mention that they can make for a great snack and keep you on a healthy weight gain? They offer protein and fiber to keep you fuller longer.

  • SWEET POTATOES

Fried, boiled or baked, they help you to reach your appropriate amount of iron. The vitamin C and copper in it also helps your body to absorb the iron in it.
